Tar Heels in the Postseason
UNC leads all women’s college soccer programs with 23 total national titles, their most recent coming in 2024. No other program has more than four national championships. The Tar Heels have been dominant in the postseason with an overall record of 153-18-5 throughout 43 NCAA tournaments. For the first time in 12 seasons, the Tar Heels once again sat atop the college soccer world in 2024. The team’s journey to their 23rd national title was led by Kate Faasse and Olivia Thomas. Faasse became the program’s 20th national player of the year after a breakout season in Carolina blue. The forward won the coveted MAC Hermann Trophy and Honda Sport Award for Soccer after leading the nation with 20 goals and eight game-winners. Thomas was named the 2024 College Cup Most Outstanding Offensive Player after netting the game-winning goal in the championship off a free kick. The junior became the first Tar Heel since 2012 to earn the award at the College Cup.
