The Montreal Alouettes will have their No. 1 signal caller under centre at the Grey Cup.

Alouettes head coach Jason Maas told reporters Monday in Winnipeg that Davis Alexander will start at quarterback for the title game, despite being limited in the team’s East Final victory on Saturday.

Alexander’s hamstring flared up during Montreal’s 19-16 victory over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, an injury that held him to just seven regular-season games in 2025. It wasn’t enough to force the 27-year-old from the game, however, as Alexander gutted through the injury to lead the Alouettes on a game-winning drive, with kicker Jose Maltos Diaz nailing the walk-off field goal.

The Alouettes’ quarterback owns a 13-0 record as a starter in the CFL. In 2025, he passed for 2024 yards and 10 touchdowns, while completing 72.4 per cent of his passes.

After Montreal punched its ticket to the Grey Cup, Alexander said there was “no doubt” he’d play in the biggest game of the season.

Even if he’s not at 100 per cent, Alexander will put his perfect record on the line on Sunday against the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
