It’s been five months since Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry officially announced their breakup, sending Bloom fleeing to Venice to be the single guy at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s wedding. While Perry has been finding new romance north of the border with former Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau, Bloom has mostly kept to himself — but he did manage to find time for a Halloween party, where he appears to have taken a photo with a woman dressed as Katy Perry’s cringey space trip. Spooky!
In photos that circulated online this weekend thanks to a Katy Perry stan account, actor Rachel Lynn Matthews is wearing a long black wig and a metallic-blue space suit — a pretty clear reference to the design of Blue Origin’s space suits — and posing for a selfie with Bloom. In case the meaning of her costume wasn’t clear, Matthews posted a separate photo of herself kissing the ground in the space suit with the caption “TAKE UP SPACE!!” — seemingly imitating Perry’s dramatic return to Earth after the flight.
It’s not clear whether Bloom was aware of Matthews’s costume when they took the photo — or if they know each other at all — but this is certainly not a great look. (While the stan-account tweet referred to Matthews as Bloom’s new girlfriend, there’s no evidence suggesting that’s true.) At least Perry, who said she felt like a “human piñata” amid the public’s reaction to her Blue Origin flight, seems to be doing all right — her new guy Trudeau dressed up as Left Shark for Halloween. Now that sounds like the kind of support she needs.
