Fenerbahce have denied claims that Jose Mourinho had to warn about new signing Jhon Duran about ‘consequences’ for missing his new club’s first training session.
Duran has linked up with Mourinho’s men on loan from Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr after deciding to cut short his time in the Middle East.
The 21-year-old was only with Al-Nassr for six months after netting 12 goals in 18 appearances before it emerged he was set to leave Cristiano Ronaldo and Co.
His switch to Fenerbache on loan came as a surprise but he jumped at the chance to work with two-time Champions League winner Mourinho, who is about to begin a second campaign in charge of the Super Lig side.
But in quotes attributed to Mourinho by Spanish publication Marca, it was claimed that Mourinho was furious with his new striker for missing out on the side’s start to pre-season.

Quotes published by Marca and attributed to Mourinho, said: “It’s disrespectful. There are clear rules here, and anyone who doesn’t follow them will face consequences. We’ll talk to him when he shows up, if he does.”
However, the Turkish giants have strongly denied the validity of the comments, clarifying the situation fully. A statement from a Fenerbahce spokesperson reads: “The statements made by our manager Jose Mourinho in the foreign press regarding our player Jhon Duran are completely false.
“Our manager has not made a statement on the matter. Our player arrived in Portugal this evening to join our team’s Algarve camp.”
There are still suggestions that Mourinho was ‘irked’ by Duran’s absence on the opening day of the summer preparations after making him their statement signing of the window.
They play their first game of the summer on Thursday when they take on Portuguese outfit Portimonense.

Mourinho has shown in the past he has no trouble falling out with players if they rub him up the wrong way.
He previously clashed with Paul Pogba over a training ground dispute at Manchester United and famously bickered with Karim Benzema at Real Madrid, criticising his work rate and effort.
He was similarly critical of Eden Hazard at times during his second stint at Chelsea and was left unimpressed with his refusal to track back.
