Versant, the future spin-off company of NBCUniversal, just gave its new sports division a name. USA Sports will house the company’s live-sports footprint across its linear networks and their related digital platforms. The move formalizes a sprawling lineup of rights that includes NASCAR, Premier League, WNBA, WWE, PGA Tour, and others.

Under the USA Sports umbrella, the brand will represent Versant’s sports activity across linear and streaming platforms. The company says the division will deliver thousands of hours of event, studio, and original programming on USA Network, Golf Channel, and CNBC in 2026 — while keeping Golf Channel’s distinct identity as the TV home of golf (a refreshed Golf Channel logo is planned for 2026).

“Our new USA Sports brand and division name leans into USA Network’s decades-long reputation as a top national sports and entertainment network,” said Matt Hong, President of USA Sports. “Our diverse portfolio of sports properties and programming across our platforms highlights top-tier global leagues and amplifies major events throughout the sports landscape. USA Sports has something for all sports fans across the country.”

USA Sports has a clear play for scale, women’s sports, and live rights. Versant’s sports division will bring viewers more than 10,000 hours of programming across those traditional networks and digital properties, including GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. That includes roughly 1,000 hours of women’s sports in 2026.

USA Sports Portfolio: What’s in the Lineup

Versant has a stacked roster of diverse offerings of high-value sports on its USA Sports roster. Key properties listed in the announcement include:

NASCAR (including Cup Series Playoffs coverage)

PGA TOUR (year-round on Golf Channel)

Premier League (hundreds of matches on USA)

WWE (SmackDown on USA Network)

WNBA (expanded linear coverage beginning 2026)

USGA championships (U.S. Open, U.S. Women’s Open, amateur events)

R&A (The Open Championship and AIG Women’s Open)

LPGA Tour

PGA of America events (including Ryder Cup, KPMG Women’s PGA)

Atlantic 10 basketball (A-10)

DP World Tour

Augusta National coverage (Masters build-up and ancillaries)

College golf (NCAA events)

League One Volleyball (LOVB) — primetime Match of the Week starting January 2026.

In recent weeks, USA Sports secured an 11-year rights deal with the WNBA, bringing a weekly Wednesday-night doubleheader and postseason games to USA Network. The USGA rights extension with NBCUniversal keeps the US Open and other championships on Golf Channel and USA Network through 2032. With its large volume of year-round sports and live programming, Versant is positioning USA Sports as a major competitor within the sports realm.

Where to Watch USA Sports

With Versant’s branding push for sports and the major rebrand of MSNBC, later this week, the company is taking strategic steps as it prepares for independence and separates itself from Comcast/NBCU.

Luckily for viewers, you can still find Versant’s networks and USA Sports across Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, Google TV, and your favorite devices as the company makes this transition. Services like Peacock, Sling TVFuboHulu + Live TVYouTube TV, and DIRECTV feature Versant’s networks and programming across their lineups and plans.

Versant’s USA Sports and other rebrands are bringing the company a fresh look as it continues to position news, sports, and entertainment as distinct franchises under the new publicly traded company.
