Quantum-accelerated simulation software startup BQP announced today that it has raised $4.8 million in new funding to expand its unified digital twin platform, BQPhy, for mission-critical industries, including aerospace, defense and semiconductors.

Founded in 2020, BQP, formerly known as BosonQ Psi, develops quantum-accelerated simulation software for mission-critical industries. Its core platform, BQPhy, enables faster and more efficient engineering simulations by combining classical high-performance computing with quantum-inspired algorithms.

BQP’s BQPhy platform has been designed to deliver significant performance improvements, with the company claiming that it is up to 10 times faster than existing central processing unit and graphics processing unit architectures. BQPhy supports simulation domains such as structural mechanics, thermal analysis and design optimization, with expansion underway into computational fluid dynamics and machine learning.

The platform is designed for hybrid computing environments, making it adaptable to current infrastructure while also being ready for future quantum hardware. BQP is also developing quantum-native solvers that are expected to offer up to 1,000-times performance gains once quantum computing matures.

BQP’s tools can be used as standalone solvers or integrated into a full digital twin framework. The unified approach allows organizations to simulate, predict and optimize complex systems across industries like aerospace, defense, semiconductors and energy.

BQP is actively working with leading quantum ecosystem partners, including Intel Corp., IBM Corp., Classiq Technologies Ltd., Strangeworks Inc. and members of the NORDTECH Hub. The company also has design partners, including three major aerospace and defense companies, the Indian Ministry of Heavy Industries and ABB Ltd.

Notably, the company also has a strategic collaboration with the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory Aerospace Systems Directorate under a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement to accelerate mission-critical modeling and simulation capabilities with quantum computing.

“The traction we’re experiencing from AFRL/RQ and industry-leading design partners validates the immediate impact and substantial ROI our platform delivers today,” said Abhishek Chopra, BQP’s founder, chief executive and chief scientific officer. “We’re also making significant research and development progress in quantum-native solvers for computational fluid dynamics and machine learning, paving the way for future simulation workloads for the next generation of data centers where HPC and quantum computers operate side by side.”

Monta Vista Capital led the seed round, with Arc Ventures, Armory Square Ventures, Emergent Ventures, Alumni Ventures Group, Arka Venture Labs, Transpose Platform Inc., Paradigm Shift Capital, New York Ventures and Griffiss Institute Inc. also participating. The funding takes the total raised to date by BQP to $6.6 million.
