CHESTER, Pa. — It’s one of the final chances of 2025 for members of the United States men’s national team to impress Mauricio Pochettino as they’ll face Paraguay on Saturday to kick off the final international break of the year. During this break, which sees the USMNT pitted against teams who have qualified for the World Cup in Paraguay and Uruguay, they’ll be without some key names in Christian Pulisic, Tyler Adams, Chris Richards, and Antonee Robinson, but there is a big return in the side.

Following his move to Borussia Monchengladbach, Gio Reyna could be in line for his first USMNT appearance since March of 2025 during the Concacaf Nations League. While Reyna has only played 170 minutes of soccer for his new club, without many healthy attacking midfielders in the pool, this is a chance for him to show Pochettino why he should be in the World Cup squad.

This match will also be a homecoming for the Philadelphia Union academy products in the squad. Brenden Aaronson, Matt Freese, Mark McKenzie, and Auston Trusty all spent their formative years in Chester and will return with a goal of representing the USMNT on home soil. They’ll also try to extend a three-match unbeaten run for the squad as the transition to a back three has brought consistency to USMNT performances.
