Transport Canada has announced an updated recall of nearly 2,500 trucks made by Daimler Truck North America due to a safety risk that could lead to a crash.

The recall issued by the automotive industry manufacturer of commercial vehicles was first announced on Nov. 4 and later updated on Nov. 13.

“On certain trucks, the fasteners for the axle clamp(s) may not have been tightened properly. As a result, the clamps could loosen,” the recall notice said. “If this happens, the axle could move and cause a loss of steering control.”

The loss of steering control can create a risk of a crash, Transport Canada said.

However, the notice also noted that this recall only affects certain trucks that are equipped with a TufTrac Gen 2 suspension.

Meanwhile, the notice said Daimler Truck North America will notify the owners of the affected units by email, as the corrective actions are still being developed.

The affected models released between 2021 and 2026 include:
