Remember when the Grey Cup had coverage coast to coast with several pages of comment? Remember when there was a Grey Cup parade on television? Remember when everyone held Grey Cup parties at home? Remember when the CFL was watched by millions on television every week? Remember when the Eskimos were the class of the league? Remember when the CFL tried to expand to the U.S. and how it failed miserably? Remember when players in the CFL were revered by youngsters across Canada? Remember when football cards were as popular as NHL cards? If hearing impaired commissioner Stewart Johnson has his way with the rule changes one might have to remember when the CFL was relevant.

GEORGE COLGAN

(The Grey Cup and the CFL is still relevant to millions of Canadians.)

DISAPPOINTMENT

Premier Smith has let us down by not living up to her word with regard to the nine Liberal policies that must be repealed. Prime Minister Carney warned us that sacrifices must be made. However, I was not expecting Premier Smith to sacrifice her political career so Prime Minister Carney could save his. How disappointing.

BILL GRANT

(If they get a pipeline built, it might save the bacon of both of them.)

Letters: Raising speed limits on Alberta highways a recipe for disaster

Prime Minister Mark Carney walks with MP Chris d'Entremont, who crossed the floor from Conservative caucus to join the Liberals, to a meeting of the Liberal Caucus on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2025.

Letters: No more floor-crossings in Canada

WHAT GOES AROUND …

Every time I read a letter from someone who is snivelling about Tory MPs “crossing the aisle” to join the Liberals, it just breaks me up. Don’t they recall the infamous Alberta Wildrose Party leader who crossed the floor to join the Alberta Conservatives, so that she would have the opportunity to ram her Fascist, libertarian agenda down Albertan’s throats? What goes around, comes around.

MARK PATTERSON

(A tale as old as time.)

DEFENCE LUNACY

More Liberal smelly tricks with talk of making civil servants supplements to our military. Who thinks up this nonsense? I see Defence Staff Gen. Jennie Carignan and defence deputy minister Stefanie Beck listed as signees to the directive. Said recruits would receive a one week a year training course in how to handle firearms. OMG save us from this lunacy. Wake up Canada we are being sent down a further path of Liberal intention to erode democracy. Freedom is not free, pay attention please.

VAL SCOFFIELD

(On the one hand, it’s a drop in the bucket. On the other, bureaucrats gaining a first-hand appreciation of Canada’s military may not be a bad thing.)
