Two teams look to punch their ticket to the NCAA Tournament on Sunday, as the Michigan Wolverines square off with the UCLA Bruins in the 2025 Big Ten Men’s Soccer Championship Match.
In a couple of rather stunning results, the two lower seeds heading into the semifinals prevailed on Thursday. The Wolverines went into College Park and upended the Washington Huskies, 2-0. Then, a few hours later, the Bruins handed the No. 2 team in the nation, the Maryland Terrapins, their first loss of the season.
This is the seventh time the Wolverines will be playing in the conference title game, making it to the final for the second year in a row as well. The Wolverines are trying to erase the disappointment of losing to Ohio State last year, 1-0.
Michigan rolled into the final four for the third year in a row by going unbeaten in the team’s final six matches of the regular season, which saw the Wolverines put together a five-game win streak in October.
UCLA is a team that made it to the semifinals in its first season in the Big Ten. Last year, the Bruins fell to Michigan in penalties in their semifinal matchup. Despite finishing fourth this season, UCLA is just one win away from clinching the program’s first conference championship.
