Henrik Stenson is returning to the DP World Tour after his LIV Golf relegation. The 49-year-old has won 11 times on the DP World Tour and now returns to the circuit in 2026 after paying fines and serving a suspension. His comeback marks a fresh start as he looks to rebuild his career on the tour where he enjoyed his greatest success.

Stenson Pays DP World Tour Fine And Serves Suspension

Stenson was relegated from the LIV Golf League after finishing 49th in the individual standings for the 2025 season. As a result, that placement pushed him into the “Drop Zone,” causing him to lose his card for the next season. Since then, Stenson has reportedly paid significant fines and served a suspension in order to return to the DP World Tour. Therefore, after a four-year stint at LIV Golf, where he served as co-captain of one of the teams, he is now set to rejoin the circuit.

The Swede received a heavy fine, along with 25 other players, for breaching rules by competing in parallel events when he first left the European circuit to join LIV Golf. The fines ranged from £12,500 to £100,000 fo each LIV event, depending on how severely the Tour judged that the player’s departure hurt its business.

Stenson resigned his DP World Tour membership in 2023 after officials imposed those sanctions. At the time, he estimated his fine for each LIV event at between £50,000 and £75,000. Since then, he has settled everything required and served his suspension; consequently, he is now set to return to the circuit. Moreover, reports indicate that Stenson paid about £1 million to restore his DP World Tour status.

Stenson Set For Sensational DP World Tour Return

The 49-year-old has an impressive record on the DP World Tour. Over his career, he has won 11 times on that circuit. These include some of the biggest tournaments. However, Stenson has struggled to recapture his best form for much of the last decade, though his previous successes have helped him maintain his status in the golf world.

Stenson posted a one-over-par round on Sunday in his final LIV event in Indianapolis, while his teammate Ian Poulter made birdies on his final holes and just overtook him. That late collapse cost Stenson his place in the league, and with it, the huge payouts that come with being a LIV Golf member. Stenson will be eligible to play again on the PGA Tour after he spends one year away from LIV Golf. The Swede can also decide to join the Seniors Tour from 2027 onwards, and it would come as no surprise given that he will be 51 years old by then.

Stenson won the 2016 British Open at Royal Troon in a memorable final-round battle with Phil Mickelson. However, Team Europe removed him as Ryder Cup captain in 2022 after he joined Saudi-backed LIV Golf. He went on to win his first event with the breakaway league.
