Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders’ home was broken into during Sunday’s 23-16 loss against the Baltimore Ravens, a team spokesman told Front Office Sports.
Sanders made his NFL debut in the loss, replacing Dillon Gabriel in the second half after the starter was ruled out with a concussion.
It was a tough first appearance for Sanders, who finished 4-of-16 for 47 yards, no touchdowns, one interception and two sacks taken. He clearly struggled with Baltimore’s pressure.
It appears he’ll get another crack at it on Sunday, however, with Cabot reporting he’s expected to get the start as Gabriel recovers from his concussion:
That should allow him a week of practice with the first-team unit, something he hasn’t had all season (which is standard operating procedure for backups across the NFL and something Sanders noted in his press conference after the game).
“I don’t think I played good,” he told reporters. “I don’t think I played good at all. I think it’s a lot of things we need to look at during the week and go and just get comfortable. Throwing routes with Jerry [Jeudy], throwing routes with all those guys. I think that was my first ball to him all year. I just think overall we’ve got to go to next week and understand, so we have a week to prepare stuff I like to do.”
Time will tell how Sanders handles his first NFL start. But Sunday was a difficult day for Sanders, on and off the field.
