James has missed the first 14 games of the campaign due to sciatica affecting his lower back and the right side of his body. It marked the first time in James’ illustrious career that he missed the start of the season.

The 40-year-old spent the past week getting back up to speed with the Lakers’ G League affiliate in South Bay. He then rejoined L.A. and was a full participant in practice on Monday.

James will become the first player in NBA history to take part in a 23rd season when he appears for the Lakers on Tuesday.

The 21-time All-Star has spent the past seven seasons with L.A. and won the NBA Championship in 2020. James has averaged 26.6 points, 8.1 assists, and 7.1 rebounds across that span.

Los Angeles has begun the season 10-4, being led by Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves. The Lakers sit fourth in the Western Conference.

You can watch as James makes his return to the hardwood on Sportsnet ONE. Tip-off is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. ET / 7:30 p.m. PT.
