According to Hydro-Québec, the work is essential to ensure system reliability heading into winter and to prevent potential equipment failures that could trigger longer, unplanned outages.
The utility says the overnight timing was chosen to limit disruption, noting that the work requires multiple teams and tightly coordinated operations. For safety reasons, the grid must be temporarily shut down while crews complete the repairs.
Residents are encouraged to prepare by preheating their homes, charging electronic devices, and minimizing fridge and freezer use during the outage.
Updates will be available through Hydro-Québec online and their mobile app. Customers with questions can contact the utility at 1-800-790-2424.
