Trudeau, whose 18-year marriage to Gregoire ended in 2023, has recently been linked to the Grammy-nominated pop star since earlier this summer and the pair recently debuted their romance during a night out in Paris.

Gregoire, 50, was asked about her ex’s new relationship during a nearly-hour long conversation with hosts Travis Dhanraj and Karman Wong.
“There’s still such great public interest in your romantic life, in that of Justin’s. How does that even feel when you have to see pictures of someone you’ve been with for so long with someone else in such a public way?” Wong asked.
“It feels like, ‘Yap, yap, yap, yap’ … It feels like noise,” replied Gregoire, who wed Trudeau in 2005 and shares three children with. “I’m a human. That noise can be hard to hear … whether it’s visually or sound bites.”

So, Gregoire has tuned out much of the chatter surrounding Trudeau and Perry and the new couple dominate the headlines.
“I want to hear the music,” Gregoire told Dhanraj and Wong. “When I take my last breath, I just want to be at peace with the question, ‘Was I present enough in my being and did I love enough?’ And you know what, at this stage, there are some yeses that come up and I want to make sure I stay on that path. That path means, don’t attach to the noise, the drama, the gossip, the clips. How is that going to serve me anyway? I don’t control other people’s choices.”

Gregoire said news of Trudeau’s new relationship “does impact” her.
“I’m a human being,” she said. “But how you react to it. How you decant it. How you discern and take perspective from what is happening. You know, we’re all good people in this … Life throws obstacles at you … Everybody has it … Sometimes, when it’s in the eyes of the world, it’s not as fun to navigate. But the universe has your back. You need to decide how am I going to navigate this?”
Gregoire said that when she separated from Trudeau a friend told her she chose her “authenticity over attachment.”
“When you’ve been with somebody for five, 10, 15, 20 years, that’s not something to just see as a failure if it doesn’t pass the test of longevity,” she continued. “You already passed the test of longevity.”

Trudeau and Perry first sparked dating rumours when they were spotted having dinner in Montreal in July.
Shortly afterward, photos and videos shared to social media showed Trudeau dancing and singing at Perry’s concert at Montreal’s Bell Centre alongside his 16-year-old daughter, Ella-Grace.
In one video, Trudeau was seen belting out the lyrics to Perry’s 2010 hit, Firework.

The pair were then photographed in late September hugging and kissing aboard Perry’s yacht.
In a series of photos published by the Daily Mail last month, Perry was seen in a black one-piece with Trudeau, 53, going shirtless in a pair of jeans as they nuzzled into one another and kissed aboard her 24-metre vessel, the Caravelle.

They then celebrated Perry’s 41st birthday at the Crazy Horse Paris and were photographed by TMZ exiting the venue holding hands and smiling.
“Of course, Katy and Justin looked absolutely stunning together and appeared to be happier than clams,” the website reported.
An insider close to Perry told PEOPLE that the whirlwind romance is a “life twist” that caught the pop star by surprise following her split from actor Orlando Bloom, with whom she shares a daughter, earlier this summer.

“Dating Justin is something she never saw coming, but she’s really enjoying this surprising life twist,” the Perry source said.
Another source told Page Six that Perry and Trudeau are “simpatico on everything.”
A third person suggested that Trudeau might be going through a “midlife crisis” as he romances Perry.

Following her split with Trudeau, Gregoire reportedly re-partnered with an Ottawa doctor. As pictures of Trudeau and Perry made front-page news, she shared a cryptic message about “letting go” with her 371,000 Instagram followers.
“Sometimes we forget that nothing we love is ever meant to be kept,” Gregoire said in a post. “People, places, moments — they’re all meant to be lived, not possessed.”
But during a recent stop on Arlene Dickinson’s Arlene Is Alone: The Single Life, Gregoire insisted she wasn’t bothered by Trudeau’s new relationship.
“I don’t know how you stay cool… I really admire it because I would probably not be that way,” Dickson remarked.
“You know, we’re human beings and stuff affects us. Normal,” Gregoire responded. “How you react to stuff is your decision. So, I choose to try to listen to the music instead of the noise.”
