CM Punk has no idea what the fuss about Boy Meets World is, because he’s never seen a single episode of the show.
Punk made the somewhat surprising admission during an appearance on Barstool Sports’ Mostly Sports podcast. Host Brandon Walker said that Mark Blutman gave him a custom “Mostly Sports” championship. Punk, like many others, wasn’t immediately familiar with the name. Walker informed him that Blutman is known for producing shows like Boy Meets World, and Punk explained why that made the situation even funnier.
“I’ve never seen an episode of Boy Meets World,” Punk admitted.
“Have you not? That seems like that would have been right down your alley,” Walker quipped.
“That’s the awesome thing about me. That’s why my friendship with Danielle [Fishel, who starred as Topanga Lawrence on Boy Meets World] is hilarious, because she thinks it’s so tremendous that I’ve never seen an episode of the show.”
Walker then asked if Punk at least watched other “TGIF” staples like Family Matters or Full House. Unsurprisingly, Punk did not.
Walker: “You didn’t watch anything?”
Punk: “Uhh… no. Not those things.”
Walker: “Well, we’re about the same age, so I was watching [those shows]. You were probably going out and achieving things.
Punk: “I was going out, hanging out,” Punk said with a laugh.
Boy Meets World is one of the most popular sitcoms of all time. The show ran for 158 episodes across 7 seasons from 1993 to 2000 on ABC. The show got a spinoff, Girl Meets World, which ran on the Disney Channel for three seasons. The spinoff also featured Fishel reprising her role as Topanga Lawrence.
