Edmonton’s Commonwealth Stadium is undergoing the installation of a new artificial turf playing surface in time for the Elks’ 2026 Canadian Football League season.
Although the CFL plans to alter its field dimensions for the 2027 season, the new turf is being laid according to existing league standards, CTV News reports.
The cost of the new turf installation is being covered by the city.
It’s reported the new turf is designed to reduce the number of knee injuries among both football and rugby players.
