Under her leadership, Texas produced 66 all-conference selections and eight All-America honorees, compiling an overall record of 156-90-35.

AUSTIN, Texas — After 14 seasons leading the Texas women’s soccer program, head coach Ange Kelly will no longer be in charge, according to an announcement from the university on Monday.

Athletic Director Chris Del Conte said in a statement the program will “move in a new direction” following a review after the season.

Kelly guided the Longhorns to three conference titles and eight NCAA Tournament appearances since taking over in 2011. Under her leadership, Texas produced 66 all-conference selections and eight All-America honorees, compiling an overall record of 156-90-35.

A former standout player on the pitch, Kelly earned 29 caps with the Canadian National Team and started every match at the 1995 FIFA Women’s World Cup. She also won back-to-back W-League titles with the Raleigh Wings in the United Soccer League and was inducted into the Canadian Soccer Hall of Fame in 2004.

“I’m sincerely grateful to have had the privilege to lead the Texas Soccer Program,” Kelly said in a statement. “I extend my deepest appreciation to our staff and all of the student-athletes who have represented the burnt orange.”

Del Conte thanked Kelly for her “tremendous energy and dedication” over the past 14 seasons, adding that she led the program “in a first-class manner.”

The university has not yet announced who will succeed Kelly as head coach.
