Toronto police are investigating after would-be robbers attempted to steal money from a bank in north Etobicoke by breaking into it with a backhoe.
Police told CTV News Toronto that officers responded to a call for a break-and-enter in progress at a bank near Rexdale Boulevard and Islington Avenue at around 3:15 a.m. on Monday.
Images from the scene show it appears to be a CIBC branch.
“The suspect(s) used a backhoe to break through a wall to the ATM room,” police said in an email.
No injuries were reported and no arrests have been made.
Investigators added that they cannot confirm if anything was obtained during the incident.
