Humboldt Broncos forward Rylan Hue was one of six players from the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) to be selected to the Canada West roster for the World Junior ‘A’ Challenge.
In 18 games this season, Hue has 7 points (5G-2A).
Earlier this month, Hue alongside Bronco teammates Tyce Penrod and Connor Miller were at the Western All-Star Challenge in Martensville, which was used to evaluate potential players for the Team Canada West roster.
Forward Kristian Lacelle was also named to the Western All-Star Challenge but was unable to participate due to an injury.
Broncos Associate Coach Carter Hansen is a member of Team Canada West’s coaching staff as the Video Coach.
The 2025 World Junior ‘A’ Challenge will be held in Trois Rivieres, Quebec from December 7-13.
Team Canada West will be competing against Canada East, the United States and Sweden in a three-game round robin tournament. The semifinals will be on Saturday, December 13 with the finals on December 14.
Before the tournament gets underway, Canada West will participate in a pair of exhibition games. On Wednesday, December 3 they face Canada East and then on Friday, December 5 they will square off against the United States.
Hansen and Miller were members of the Canada West team that won the Bronze Medal at 2024 World Junior ‘A’ Challenge.
Also named to the squad is Humboldt native Thomas Ries.
The Yorkton Terrier defenceman 19 points (6G-13A) in 20 games this year.
Other players named to the Canada West roster from the SJHL are Melfort Mustangs defenceman Tao Flory, Kindersley Klippers defenceman Jaxon Herchak, Flin Flon Bombers forward Wyatt Stinton, and Warman Wolverines goaltender Taye Timmerman.
