A1 Combat 29 looks to go down on Aug. 1 from the Hard Rock Sacramento, with 15 bouts scheduled to go down as of July 28th. Featuring seven professional bouts on the main card and eight on the prelims, A1 Combat 29 is sure to serve up plenty of future prospects for fight fans to keep their eyes on for events to follow.
Before the bright lights drop onto the A1 Combat canvas on Friday night, here are the top three fighters to keep your eyes peeled out for on A1 Combat 29’s main card.
A1 Combat 29: Nick Maximov
The A1 Combat Middleweight Champion and former UFC veteran has been on a tear since he departed from the UFC, notching four wins from August 2024 alone ahead of A1 Combat 29. An accomplished grappler with tutelage from Nick Diaz and company, Maximov has now added acclaimed striking coach Jason Parillo to his corner, also getting to train alongside former UFC champion Luke Rochold at the Jaxxon Headquarters.
Following a second-round TKO over a fellow Dana White Contender Series veteran in Handesson Ferreira in June this year, Maximov looks to earn his fifth win over another grizzled regional MMA veteran in Renato Valente in A1 Combat 29. With a statement win over Valente, there’s no reason why the 27-year-old would not get a call back to the UFC.
A1 Combat 29: Anthony Figueroa
A black belt underneath his uncle and former Strikeforce veteran Anthony “AntDawg” Figueroa, Anthony Figueroa II has been a name known to California MMA fans for quite some time now. Most recently, getting seen in the background of workout videos with UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier’s gym in Gilroy, Figueroa looks to be working harder than ever before as he looks into his eighth professional bout in A1 Combat 29.
Carrying a lineage in the large Bay Area mixed martial arts community due to his uncle’s mixed martial arts accolades, Figueroa now looks to establish a career of his own as he takes on a former Dana White Contender Series alumnus in Toby Misech. With a win over Misech, Figueroa could place himself back into the Lightweight title picture against the only man who has ever given him a loss in professional MMA, Christian “The Landshark” Avalos.
A1 Combat 29: Ezekiel Martinez
Hailing from the infamous Gracie Fighter team in Stockton, California, Ezekiel Martinez comes into his professional debut with A1 Combat riding an illustrious amateur MMA career, earning his last four wins in a row all by finish.
A purple belt underneath Darin Cooley and training underneath Viktor Galdon, Martinez has been in the corner for teammates Ernie Juarez and Samuel Alvarez en route to their own professional careers.
Taking on a training partner of Payton Talbott’s in Michael Wood, Martinez’s professional debut for A1 Combat in A1 Combat 29 is sure to bring a show to the fans watching, no matter what, with a win putting Martinez on a good pace to begin his professional career.
A1 Combat 29 goes down Friday, August 1st at the Hard Rock Casino in Yuba City, California, with 15 bouts slated to be on the card as of July 28th. Tickets are still available on Eventbrite or the Hard Rock website, with the fights being broadcast on UFC Fight Pass starting at 7 pm PT and the prelims on YouTube at 5 pm PT.
