While plenty of Supercars drivers have come to America, Jesse Love is trying to reverse the trend with his start in Super2. The equivalent to the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, Love is testing out the second-tier series down under.

In Super2, the General Motors cars are still badged as Holden. Given Jesse Love’s connection with Chevrolet, he has the bowtie branding on his car. It is a new test for the 2025 O’Reilly Series champion.

Love was able to drive his Super2 car for 70 laps at Mallala in South Australia. It is not far from Adelaide, where the season finale and championship will be decided in Supercars.

After testing things out, Love was asked about the experience. Not only is it a new car, but he’s driving on the opposite side of the cockpit than he’s used to.

“It was my first time driving a big horsepower car with right-foot braking,” Love said, via AutoAction. “It was very fun to learn and I was surprised by how naturally I adapted to it.”

So, how does it compare to the O’Reilly Series car? It’s different, and the action happens quicker than here in America.

“In Xfinity [now O’Reilly], everything happens slower. In the Super2 car, everything was happening very quickly,” Love explained. “It felt really positive, really alive. Honestly, it was unlike anything I have ever driven before. Maybe the closest thing would be a shifter kart.”

Jesse Love is going to show the Super2 drivers what this NASCAR driver is made of. He isn’t planning on making a lot of noise, that is, short of a great finish. He wants to make headlines for the right things, not the wrong ones.

Jesse Love joining Austin Cindric as NASCAR representatives

While Jesse Love is focused on Super2 for Adelaide this weekend, Austin Cindric is racing the main event. The Team Penske driver has had experience in Australia in the past. But this is a different game, and with the Gen3 Supercars Mustang, Cindric is starting to get comfortable.

Long considered a road course racer by background, this is a chance for Cindric to reestablish that reputation. His Cup Series career has been rather lackluster on the road courses. After all, he has won three times in Cup and they have happened at two superspeedways and Gateway.

Having Love and Cindric representing NASCAR is awesome. Will Brown, Brodie Kostecki, Cam Waters, and others have followed Shane van Gisbergen to America for one-off starts in Cup and O’Reilly. Now, the trend is starting to go backwards. It is tougher with so many races for NASCAR drivers to find the time, but this is that time now.

I think Jesse Love has a great chance to compete for the win. A lot of factors will determine whether that happens or not, but if all goes well, there is no reason why Love can’t contend with the Australian Super2 regulars.
