A doctor from Assam sparked widespread online attention after alleging that Ayurvedic practitioners were prescribing only allopathic medicines. His posts ignited a broader discussion about treatment practices across medical systems, quickly becoming a major talking point.
As the debate intensified, Dr Priyam Bordoloi revealed that he started receiving threatening messages demanding he delete his post. Viewers then reacted not just to the prescription he shared but also to the fact that he was being threatened for speaking about it.
Doctor Calls Out Ayurvedic Practitioners
Dr Bordoloi posted a photo of the prescription and explained why he was alarmed. He wrote, “This is the prescription of an Ayurvedic doctor. Can someone explain why every single drug written here is allopathic? We see hundreds of such prescriptions of homeopathy, Ayurveda, ‘traditional healers’ casually writing even powerful antibiotics like Meropenem for simple diarrhea. Is Ayurveda just becoming a shortcut for less-meritorious people to practice modern medicine and that too incorrectly?”

Doctor Alleges Receiving Threats To Delete The Post
He later shared that the attention around his post led to a wave of threatening messages. “Got multiple DMs and threats telling me to delete this post. Ask yourself this: why does one tweet shake an entire industry? I am not deleting anything. If a system collapses from a simple screenshot, maybe the problem isn’t the tweet. This malpractice has gone unchecked for decades, and people deserve to know,” he wrote.

He also clarified that these messages did not come from known figures. “I have received quite a many DMs like ‘you don’t know Ayurveda,’ ‘delete this,’ ‘you’re ruining our name,’ etc. But almost all of them were from anonymous throwaway accounts. No threats from any major doctor, influencer, or authority yet,” he added.
Thank you everyone for the concern, I am perfectly safe.I even spoke with “theliverdr”, so no need to worry.Since yesterday I have received quite a many DMs like “you don’t know Ayurveda,” “delete this,” “you’re ruining our name,” etc. But almost all of them were from…

Internet Reacts To Allegations
As his post spread, many users stepped in to share their own views in the comments section.
One doctor commented, “Absolutely correct, Dr Priyam. When my patient asks me advice about anything regarding Ayurvedic medicines, I tell them that I have not studied them at all and I can’t tell them anything about them except for the fact that they can cause harm, contrary to popular belief.”
Another user pointed out, “This is important to be amplified for Health Care services as a whole. We already suffer from the rampant sale of Scheduled Rx drugs without a prescription and antibiotic recommendations by the pharmacy itself. Now with this invalid prescription, the market will become darker.”
“Support to you, doctor. India is filled with unqualified people doing stuff which only a qualified person should. I hope this changes,” someone else said.
A person sharply reacted, “Don’t delete. The frauds need to be called out,” while an individual added, “This is something that should be tackled systematically. Health is paramount and Doctors are core to that.”
“Ancient Ayurveda might have been genuine and we can respect it … but the ayurveda of today is a scam!!!” read another comment.
