NASCAR vs. 23XI Racing/FRM’ has been one of the biggest highlights in the sport this season. Along with exposing many secrets about the parties involved in the legal battle, the leaked court documents have also revealed several unflattering details about other prominent figures in the sport.

While it shed light on the dirty side of the sport, it also raised questions about the value of tradition and respect in motorsports. NASCAR legend Mark Martin was one of the few who were fairly vocal about his “deep disappointment” over the leaks. In a recent podcast appearance, his former contemporary, Kenny Wallace, explained Martin’s mental state after leaked data from NASCAR’s legal drama became public.

Mark Martin’s Reaction After Reading The Leaked Conversations

As one of the key pieces in NASCAR’s anti-playoffs debate, Martin has also raised his voice about several oddities in the sport on multiple occasions. And this time it was no different either.

As the trial date neared, desperation set in for both 23XI Racing and FRM, as well as NASCAR, which led to extreme measures and prompted several sensitive conversations to be presented as evidence in the courtroom. Soon, a good chunk of it made it to social media and spread like wildfire in NASCAR.

Like many, Martin, too, was taken aback by the revelations and the remarks from NASCAR’s bosses against prominent figures in the sport. The NASCAR Hall of Famer took to social media to express his disappointment towards NASCAR’s execs’ alleged derogatory comments against Richard Childress.

Martin was even more saddened when he learnt how NASCAR had dealt with Tony Stewart’s SRX series. On his Twitter, he wrote, “Just so disappointing. We should be giving people who love Motorsports more of what they love, and maybe the sport would grow and bring in more fans of all ages.”

Kenny Wallace Sheds Light On Martin’s Deep Wounds

However, there was more to what was shared on social media. The NASCAR icon was in deep shock, which Wallace revealed while speaking with motorsports YouTuber Chase Holden. In conversation, the former driver candidly opened up about how the courtroom leaks had affected NASCAR.

Midway through the conversation, when asked how the other prominent figures had reacted to the leaks, Wallace referred to his chat with Martin. He highlighted that Martin was “crushed” after learning about the conversations.

“Mark Martin is in utter disbelief…” Wallace continued. He further explained how a “broken” Martin was more dangerous. Wallace stated that, unlike him, Martin did not have a forgiving nature and called him way more “hardcore” than himself.

Wallace also explained how the leaks had led Martin to question his credibility, relevance, and respect in the sport. He said, “Mark is like, ‘Oh my god, do they even like me? Did any of them ever or do they see me like a showhorse?’”

Although Martin is still one of the most respected and loved figures in NASCAR, with a loyal fan base, the leaks have seemingly affected him on a level deeper than most in the sport.
