WWE SmackDown Card:
5-on-5 Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match: The MFTs (Solo Sikoa, JC Mateo, Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa & Talla Tonga) vs. Sami Zayn, Shinsuke Nakamura, Rey Fenix & Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin)
The Last Time is Now Tournament Quarterfinals Match: LA Knight vs. TBA
The Last Time is Now Tournament Quarterfinals Match: Jey Uso vs. Rusev
WWE SmackDown Results:
The Last Time is Now Tournament Quarterfinals Match: Jey Uso vs. Rusev
Rusev dominates most of the match. Jey wins after an Spear/Uso Splash combo.
Winner- Jey Uso
Grade: C+
This match was perfectly fine for a TV match. Jey was obviously winning here, which is dissapointing, as Rusev has a mountain of history with John Cena, Rusev getting closer to the finals is a better story.
The Last Time is Now Tournament Quarterfinals Match: LA Knight vs. The Miz
Knight is in control early. Miz takes over after a cheap shot. Knight fires up and hits the BFT for the win.
Winner- LA Knight
Grade: C+
This writer is a big fan of Miz and Knight, but there had to be a better match for Knight here. Yes, there are parallels between Knight and Miz, but Knight would have had a more compelling outing against a larger, more bruising opponent…. Like Rusev.
Women’s WarGames Advantage Match: Charlotte Flair vs. Asuka
Asuka and Flair trade submission attempts. The fight spills out to the apron. Asuka floors Flair with a big boot. After the break, Flair fires up and lands a flurry of chops. Moonsault by Flair. Asuka kicks out. The fight spills outside again. Asuka spits the mist, but Flair ducks. Asuka blinds a cameraperson in the process. Flair gets the win after a Natural Selection.
Winner- Charlotte Flair
Grade: B
Seeing Flair beat Asuka is triggering for this writer. It seems to happen whenever they face off, and I’ve never understood why. Either way, this has been the match of the night so far. Flair and Asuka always have good matches. Interestingly, the good guys got the advantage in the Women’s WarGames match. That makes me wonder if shenanigans are afoot and someone on that team is going to get taken out or miss a big chunk of it to balance out the fact that the bad guys didn’t get the advantage to start.
5-on-5 Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match: The MFTs (Solo Sikoa, JC Mateo, Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa & Talla Tonga) vs. Sami Zayn, Shinsuke Nakamura, Rey Fenix & Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin)
Chris Sabin got things started by punching JC Mateo’s ticket to the back, giving his team the early edge. Tama Tonga stepped in and dumped Shinsuke Nakamura to even things up. Rey Fenix fired back with an elimination on Tanga Loa, but the celebration was short-lived. Talla Tonga bulldozed through the momentum shift, taking out both Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin in one swift swing of control.
Tama Tonga added to the chaos by eliminating Rey Fenix, leaving Sami Zayn as the lone hope on his side. Zayn fought back, catching Tama Tonga and sending him packing to keep his team alive. Talla Tonga wasn’t far behind, getting taken out next and bringing us to the final stretch. Solo Sikoa drops Zayn to stand tall as the sole survivor.
Winners- The MFTs
After the match, the lights dimmed and The Wyatt Sicks surrounded the ring, closing in on Sikoa. Uncle Howdy stepped forward and dropped Solo with a Sister Abigail.
Grade: C+
