Team Jacobs captured Game 1 of the best-of-three Canadian Curling Trials final with a 9-8 victory over Team Dunstone on Friday.

Brad Jacobs and his Calgary-based rink scored two in the 10th end to secure the advantage in the championship matchup.

Jacobs came out of the gate with a single point in the first end, before stealing two for an early 3-0 lead.

After the teams traded two-point ends, Matt Dunstone struck for four heading into the fifth-end break.

Jacobs bounced back to score two in the sixth and overcame Dunstone’s 9th-end deuce with two of his own in the 10th end to earn the victory.

Team Jacobs will now have two chances to qualify for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milano and Cortina, Italy, with the first coming in Game 2 on Saturday.

If Dunstone wins the second matchup, the teams will play a winner-take-all match on Sunday.
