Indiana Fever star Lexie Hull hit back at teammate Caitlin Clark for “making comments” throughout the WNBA season.
Clark has endured a miserable sophomore season derailed by injury. Having impressed and won Rookie of the Year honors in 2024, her 2025 WNBA season was spent largely on the sidelines, which was frustrating for fans and teammates alike, even as the Fever went deep into the playoffs.
The 23-year-old has missed significant time due to quad and groin injuries, while the Fever lost other key stars such as Sophie Cunningham, Sydney Colson, and Aari McDonald to season-ending injuries. Clark finished averaging 16.5 points per game alongside an impressive 8.8 assists.

Hull, meanwhile, put up 7.2 stats with 4.3 rebounds across the 2025 season as the Fever reached the WNBA semifinals. She has a good relationship with Clark, who often pokes fun at her teammates — including Hull.
Before the 2025 WNBA season tipped off in May, Clark saw a photo of Hull and Sophie Cunningham and decided to take a shot at the duo. She commented on their media day photo: “Little less tanning. A little more bball ladies.”
Hull told PEOPLE she wants Clark to join her in tanning ahead of the 2026 WNBA season. “She definitely jokes about it,” Hull said at the Glamour Women of the Year event. While Clark will “make comments here and there, but it’s all in good fun.”
After Clark’s comment, Hull claimed she and Cunningham hit back at the two-time WNBA All-Star. Hull even added: “She could probably use a little sun herself!”

On her relationship with Clark, Hull added: “She’s one of my best friends on the team, and it’s been amazing growing together and chasing the same goals.”
She continued: “We just have such a natural connection. We push each other in practice but also have so much fun, it’s a good balance of competitiveness and friendship.”
Both Clark and Cunningham suffered season-ending injuries before the postseason, but the Fever still impressed. Indiana crashed out of the playoffs against the Las Vegas Aces, who went on to win the 2025 WNBA championship.

Meanwhile, off the court, Clark seemingly played a part in Steph Curry’s split with Under Armour.
According to WSJ, Under Armour reportedly offered Clark a four-year, $16 million contract, Adidas offered $6M over four years, and Puma also expressed an interest but did not officially enter the running after being told that bidding started at $3M. However, in the end, the competition was beaten by Nike, which agreed to an eight-year, $28 million deal for a signature shoe.
The Sports Business Journal claims that Under Armour’s unsuccessful pursuit of recruiting Clark to the brand contributed to the Golden State Warriors star’s split with the brand. It highlights just how big a star Clark is in basketball, and she will get even bigger if she wins a WNBA championship alongside Hull in 2026.
