The North Shore Health Network has announced that the Emergency Department at its Thessalon site will be closed from Wednesday morning through Thursday morning

The Thessalon Emergency Department will be closed tomorrow due to physician shortages, the North Shore Health Network said in a news release.

The closure will take place from 8 a.m. on Wednesday Dec. 3 to 8 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 4.

However, nurse practitioner will be available to provide timely care for urgent health concerns from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Anyone requiring immediate medical attention should call 9-1-1. 

Ambulances will be re-routed to one of the following closest Emergency Departments to the Thessalon Site: 


Blind River Site – North Shore Health Network – 525 Causley St., Blind River
Richards Landing Site – North Shore Health Network – 1180 Richards St., Richards Landing 
Sault Area Hospital – 750 Great Northern Rd., Sault Ste. Marie
