Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has now dropped his eye-opening Premier League prediction for Manchester United’s upcoming encounter with West Ham at Old Trafford.

Ruben Amorim and his men kick off their December run of Premier League fixtures on Thursday ahead of signing off 2025 in the current campaign.

Are Ruben Amorim’s comments from the last West Ham defeat still relevant now?

“We are not scared of losing a game as Manchester United. We don’t have that fear anymore and that is the most dangerous thing that a big club can have.”

West Ham will arrive at Old Trafford on Thursday evening and Nuno Espirito Santo’s men are currently hovering above the Premier League relegation zone.

Manchester United, on the other hand, are 10 points clear of 17th-place West Ham and the seventh-place Red Devils are only three points adrift of the top four.

The Red Devils received a major boost ahead of signing off the month of November, with United defeating Crystal Palace 2-1 in a comeback win at Selhurst Park.

Jean-Philippe Mateta broke the deadlock for the Eagles in the first half on Sunday before the Red Devils rallied back in the second half at Selhurst Park.

Manchester United pulled level against Crystal Palace after striker Joshua Zirkzee cancelled out Jean-Philippe Mateta’s first-half opener in the Premier League clash.

Following Joshua Zirkzee’s equaliser in the 54th minute, the Red Devils pulled ahead of the Eagles only nine minutes later after Mason Mount’s stunning strike.

Speaking in his Sportskeeda column, Paul Merson said: “It was a great result for Manchester United against Crystal Palace.

“They never really troubled Palace in the first half and conceded the opening goal.

“But credit to United, they changed it up in the second half and got the result.”

The Red Devils received a much-needed bounce-back after Sunday’s 2-1 result, following on from United’s disappointing 1-0 defeat to Everton at Old Trafford.

“Like I said before, I thought they were quite poor in that loss to Everton,” Merson continued.

“This performance was much better in comparison.”

United have won twice and lost only once in their last five league matches, while West Ham have picked up two victories and suffered two defeats in the same period.

Merson suggested that the Red Devils have lacked “consistency” this season, but he believes that the Palace result could act as a major springboard for the Red Devils.

“I’m expecting goals, goals and more goals in this game,” he said.

“I don’t expect West Ham to cause them major problems.

“Manchester United need some consistency and they will hope this result can spring them in the right direction.”

Merson has backed United to walk away with all three Premier League points at Old Trafford and tipped a 3-1 scoreline in favour of Ruben Amorim’s men.
