Hambly Farms distills each bottle of essential oil using a copper alembic still

– Hambly Farms announced that co-founder and head distiller Milton Hambly has received a gold medal at the 10th Annual International Lavender Oil and Culinary Competition for his Dutch Mill Lavender Essential Oil. The variety is grown, harvested, steam-distilled, and bottled on the Hambly family’s lavender farm in San Miguel.

This is the first competition entry for Hambly Farms. The farm said the recognition is significant because Milton Hambly has spent the last four years working on essential oil distillation and refining his craft through traditional methods and modern precision.

Hambly Farms distills each bottle of essential oil using a copper alembic still. Each batch begins with fresh-cut Dutch Mill lavender harvested at peak bloom and placed directly into the still. The farm stated that its lavender is not stored, outsourced, or diluted.

“Winning gold on our very first entry feels like validation for the way we’ve always done things,” said Milton Hambly, co-founder and distiller. “We’re hands-on from the moment the plants go into the ground to the moment the bottle goes to our customers. This award tells us that dedication matters.”

Hambly Farms grows lavender without pesticides and harvests by hand before distilling and bottling pure essential oil on the farm. The farm said nothing leaves the property until it is ready for customers.

Dutch Mill Lavender Essential Oil has become a popular item among Hambly Farms visitors. The farm said the batch is known for its floral notes, aromatherapy qualities, and consistent finish.

“This award shines a light on Milton’s craft and the integrity behind every product we make,” said Gina Hambly, co-founder. “Our essential oil isn’t just lavender—it’s our land, our family, and our commitment to creating calm in an honest, hands-on way.”

The gold-medal Dutch Mill Lavender Essential Oil is available online and at the farm while supplies last at HamblyFarms.com.
