SEATTLE — A suspect was arrested after doing a reported $100,000 worth of damage to the Interbay Golf Center on Wednesday, according to the Seattle Police Department.

An officer was dispatched to the facility on 15th Avenue West at around 2 a.m. to a reported burglary. When an officer arrived on scene, they spotted the suspect inside the pro shop. The suspect tried to escape onto the golf course but he was apprehended and taken into custody.

After the suspect was read his Miranda Rights, he reportedly said, “Oh man, I almost got away.”

The suspect confessed to breaking two windows inside the pro shop. Police also found that he had stacked a “significant number of items” near the women’s bathroom. Police did not specify what the items were, but a Golf Center employee estimated it would cost between $80,000 and $100,000 to replace them.

That same suspect is believed to have stolen gardening supplies and a large metal bell from a nearby community garden called the P Patch. The suspect’s car was located in the parking lot, and inside were some gardening materials, golf-related items that were potentially from Interbay Golf Center, and a chainsaw that may have been used to cut the wooden posts that the bell was mounted on.

Police searched the immediate area for the P Patch bell, but could not find it.

The suspect’s car was towed for evidence. The suspect was booked into the King County Jail, though records do not reflect on what charges.
