Greensboro honors the legacy of the Greensboro Six Sunday with a ceremonial tee-off and film screening
GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department is set to tee-off a yearlong celebration Sunday to honor the Greensboro Six at Gillespie Golf Course.Â
The event will begin at 1:30 p.m. at Gillespie Golf Course with a ceremonial tee shot by six people to mark the 70th anniversary of the Greensboro Six.Â
At 2:00 p.m., a special screening of a short film documenting the Greensboro Six and the 2024 mural installation will be presented in the First Tee building.
The course will offer $.75 green fees for anyone that would like to play a game of golf.Â
The Greensboro Six’s actions in December 1955 ultimately helped lead to the integration of Gillespie Golf Course.
Surviving family members of the Greensboro Six will be in attendance to share more about their legacy.Â
