From athlete to dental entrepreneur, Dr. Ajit Chaudhry proves precision and performance matter—in and out of the chair.

A Canadian Start, Rooted in Discipline

Ajit Chaudhry grew up in Kingston, Ontario, in a house built on education and effort. His father was a professor at the Royal Military College of Canada. That environment shaped his early values around structure, service, and striving for excellence.

He was also a competitive junior tennis player, ranked among Ontario’s best. “Tennis taught me timing, patience, and focus,” he says. “I still use those lessons in the operatory every day.”

After graduating from Frontenac Secondary School, he began studying at Queen’s University and then the University of Western Ontario. First came actuarial science. Then came a change of course—he enrolled in dental school and graduated in 1998.

From a Single Chair to 20 Practices

After dental school, Chaudhry moved to Belleville, where he practiced for four years. Then, in 2002, he and his twin brother—also a dentist—bought their first clinic in Ancaster, Ontario. That clinic would become the foundation of a national footprint.

Over the next two decades, they quietly acquired and built about 20 practices across Canada, including Barrie Dental Arts and Playfair Dental Centre. Ajit prefers to stay behind the scenes in some clinics, letting teams lead locally.

“Growth wasn’t the goal. Quality was,” he says. “But as we got better at running things, opportunities kept coming. The key was learning to duplicate excellence—without copying ourselves.”

A General Dentist, Specialised by Skill

While Ajit Chaudhry practices as a general dentist, his hands-on focus is anything but general. He’s known for his work in:

Bone grafting
Implants
Cosmetic dentistry
Wisdom teeth extraction
IV sedation

“I like the complexity,” he explains. “These are procedures that require focus and steady hands. That’s where I thrive.”

He has taken years to train in these specialised procedures, not by chasing titles but by building outcomes. “Labels don’t matter to me,” he says. “Results do. And patients feel the difference.”

The Mind-Body Connection Behind the Mask

Outside the clinic, Chaudhry stays as disciplined as he was on the court. He trains regularly at Lifetime Fitness, mixing cardio, Pilates, basketball, and weightlifting. “I stay active because it keeps my mind sharp. And in this job, clarity is everything.”

That balance extends to his leadership style, too. His approach to managing teams is calm but structured. “You can’t fake culture,” he says. “You create it by showing up every day with intention. People feel that.”

Giving Back to the Kids Who Need It Most

Dr. Chaudhry also puts his success to work for others. He’s a regular supporter of SickKids Hospital, one of the most respected children’s health institutions in Canada.

“We’ve been lucky,” he says. “Giving back is not optional. It’s part of the responsibility that comes with building something that matters.”

He doesn’t just write cheques—he encourages his team members to find ways to give back in their own communities, whether through time, talent, or donations.

Quiet Success, Real Impact

Ajit Chaudhry doesn’t need fanfare. His career speaks for itself: a successful transition from clinical work to business ownership, all while maintaining strong hands-on expertise. But ask him what he’s most proud of, and the answer is simple:

“Creating clinics where patients feel safe, teams feel proud, and care stays personal,” he says. “That’s what makes the whole thing worth it.”

It’s not about being everywhere. It’s about being present where it matters.
