During the season, the Waldo, Ohio, product threw for 4,549 yards, 24 touchdowns and just 11 interceptions. He was named the Riders’ Most Outstanding Player for the 2025 season.
He will look to do something no other quarterback in Saskatchewan history has done and win a second Grey Cup as the starter. In 2025, Harris won his first Grey Cup as the team’s starter in the game, winning two — 2012 in Toronto and 2016 in Ottawa — as the backup.
Entering next season, Harris has CFL career passing totals of 37,697 yards (13th on the All-Time list), 3,097 completions (ninth) and 204 touchdowns (15th). His 70.1 completion percentage is the second-highest in CFL history.
Harris first joined the Riders in 2023 after time with the Montreal Alouettes. He has suited up for the Toronto Argonauts (2012-15), the Ottawa Redblacks (2016-18) as well as in Edmonton (2019-21) before he was traded to Montreal.
In 2018, he set a CFL playoff record for touchdown passes in a game (six).
He was an East Division All-CFL honouree in 2016 and a West Division All-CFL honouree in 2024.
This is the first major signing by Riders’ general manager Jeremy O’Day as he continues to work on a lengthy free agent list after a successful 2025 season. The Riders had a CFL-best 12-6 record during the regular season.
The decision by Harris is an important one as he can also help convince some of those pending free agents to try and run it back. Saskatchewan has never won back-to-back Grey Cups in franchise history.
