The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed American receiver Collin Brunstein and brought back American running back Marcus Major Jr.
Brunstein is the all-time receiving leader at Illinois College, a Division III program located in his hometown of Jacksonville, Ill. He caught 219 passes for 5,047 yards and 77 touchdowns over 40 collegiate games and holds the record for most receiving touchdowns by any receiver at any level of NCAA football.
The six-foot-two, 190-pound target was named a second-team All-American in 2024, earned an invitation to the FBS Tropical Bowl, and participated in rookie minicamp with the Los Angeles Chargers after going unselected in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Major Jr. joined Saskatchewan’s practice roster partway through the 2025 season but didn’t see any regular-season action.
The six-foot, 220-pound ball-carrier played collegiately at the University of Minnesota and University of Oklahoma, rushing for a total of 1,185 yards, catching 43 passes for 321 yards, and scoring 14 touchdowns over 47 games.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders finished first in the West Division standings in 2025 with a 12-6 record, finishing first in the West Division for the first time since 2019. The team went on to defeat the Montreal Alouettes in the 112th Grey Cup in Winnipeg, marking the team’s first championship in 12 years. Trevor Harris went 11-5 as a starter, throwing for 4,549 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.
The Roughriders ranked second in net offence, second in net defence, and tied for third with a turnover differential of plus-eight. The club’s leading rusher was A.J. Ouellette with 1,222 yards, leading receiver was KeeSean Johnson with 1,159 yards, and leading tackler was A.J. Allen with 91 tackles. Saskatchewan finished second in attendance with average crowds of 28,427, which was a 2.7 percent increase from the previous year.
