“Two people sitting next to Vinodhini are seen clapping while she says this. I have nothing to say about them—they are simply a waste,” the actor stated.

‘What is your worth? All you wished for was Vijay sir’s arrest’: Sanam Shetty blasts Vinodhini over comments on Tamil Nadu publicFrom (L) Vinodhini, Sanam Shetty | Photos: Instagram

Sanam Shetty has strongly criticised Tamil artiste Vinodhini over her remarks related to the Karur tragedy. Vinodhini had commented that “intervening in people’s issues did not seem to be of much value,” which is why she has not been intervening in their issues of late. These words sparked a backlash. Vinodhini had also said that even the victims themselves had forgotten the issue. Sanam Shetty alleged that Vinodhini was merely disappointed that Vijay could not be arrested in the matter.

Sanam Shetty questioned how the pain of ordinary people could be insulted in such a manner. “Do you have any conscience or compassion? Have you met the victims directly? Have you spoken to them? Have you asked what their problems are?” She added that Vinodhini, without knowing or understanding anything about the issue, was only showing her frustration over Vijay not being arrested. She made these remarks in a video posted on Instagram.

“I’m extremely triggered by Mrs. Vinodhini’s insensitive speech! How can she degrade the grief of innocent families? Thank God she resigned from her political post!” Sanam said.

“Today is the memorial day of our Iron Lady, Jayalalithaa. Even after ten years, people still ask why no leader like Amma has emerged. I ask the same. And here we have people like Vinodhini who are saying that the public has no value and are responsible for everything that happens to them.

I think Vinodhini wanted to go viral, but it did not get the reach she expected. I myself received the video very late. When I watched it, my blood pressure shot up. Madam, who are you? What value do you have?

I have personally visited the disaster victims in Karur. Unlike you, I am not a politician and I have no party support. Even then, I was able to understand their pain. Although I could not do anything major for them, I realised it was my duty to stand with them at that moment. Even the victims in Karur say Vijay sir is not responsible for what happened. You could not accept that. That is why those people became worthless in your eyes, and their pain became worthless too. It is good that you resigned from the party.

It’s better if you stay at home. We do not need your service. Two people sitting next to Vinodhini are seen clapping when she says this. I have nothing to say about them—simply waste,” said Sanam Shetty.

A journalist had asked Vinodhini at an event why she had reduced posting videos on social media speaking for the public. Vinodhini responded controversially: “I realised that intervening in people’s issues is not of much value. For example, 41 people died in Karur. Even their families seem to have moved on and forgotten the matter. So why should I speak for them?” This was Vinodhini’s statement.

Earlier this January, Vinodhini had announced her resignation from the Makkal Needhi Maiam party. After the Karur tragedy, she had posted on social media in support of Vijay.

But the latest outburst by Sanam has sparked fresh controversy.
