While the 2025 tennis season is over, and for many players it is finally time to rest and recover before the offseason, for some, December brings a chance to showcase their skills in a low-pressure environment through exhibition matches taking place across the globe.

None of those exhibitions are bigger than the highly anticipated showdown between World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz and Brazilian rising star Joao Fonseca on December 8th in Miami.

Carlos Alcaraz vs Joao Fonseca Match Guide
What You Need to Know

This will be the first-ever meeting between two of the most loudly supported players on the ATP Tour. Despite the match having no real stakes, it feels as close to “unmissable” as an exhibition can get.

The match will be the inaugural tennis event hosted at LoanDepot Park, home of Major League Baseball’s Miami Marlins. A capacity crowd, expected to be dominated by Brazilian fans, should ensure that even though this is an exhibition, the atmosphere will be as electric as any tour match.

The event is scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM EST (midnight in London), with Alcaraz vs Fonseca taking place after a match between two of the top three American women’s players, Amanda Anisimova and Jessica Pegula. The format will be best-of-three sets, with a 10-point match tiebreak replacing the final set to add to the drama if the match goes the distance.

The exhibition will be broadcast across the United States on Tennis Channel, with live streaming available on the Tennis Channel app.

After an entire 2025 season in which fans waited for a matchup between the world No. 1 and the teenager many believe could challenge him in the coming years, excitement is guaranteed—even if the official season wrapped up a couple of weeks ago.
