Just days after we got a new poster (that still has people talking), comes the first clip for the upcoming series Star Trek: Starfleet Academy.

Braka attacks

The new clip was first shown today at the Paramount+ presentation at CCXP in São Paolo, Brazil, the biggest fan conventions in South America. Oscar-nominee Paul Giamatti, who plays the Klingon/Tellarite villain “Nus Braka,” was in Brazil to to reveal the exclusive scene on stage at CCXP. The new clip shows the U.S.S Athena, which is part of Starfleet Academy, under attack… from Braka. And this time, it’s personal.

In this clip we can see that Braka has some history with Academy chancellor, Captain Ake, played by Oscar-winner Holly Hunter. While not seen in this clip, this connection is also tied into Caleb Mir (Sandro Rosta), described as an orphan with a troubled past, who Ake recruits to become and “unlikely cadet.” The plot for the first season includes the search for his mother (Tatiana Maslany) which is all tied into the event that Braka speaks of from 15 years earlier.

You can see some elements of this story arc in the trailer released at NYCC in October. And check out our full trailer analysis for a breakdown.
