The Golden State Warriors have had their fair share of success over the past decade, with four championships in the last ten years.

Stephen Curry had his partners in crime during their run in the 2010s, but their 2022 championship was special, as it was the first time Curry was deemed to win without a superteam, capturing that Finals MVP he has been chasing for quite some time.

He had his help, but three years later, the team seems to be drastically changing, and one player specifically remains a free agent.

That would be Gary Payton II, the 6-foot-2 guard who brings a different type of energy to the Dubs.

His career with the team has been highlighted on the defensive side of the ball, along with his voracious dunks, leaping above players who are inches taller than him.

Payton II has embraced the role of disrupting other teams’ offense much like his father before him, and it’s exactly what the Warriors needed.

Now, his time could be up, and the 32-year-old should look to find his next home.

One team that could be in the running to sign the one-time champion is the Boston Celtics, whose lineup will be a bit thin heading into next season.

Payton II stands small compared to the rest of the league, but has proved he is willing to battle against anyone.

With the Celtics looking to fill out their roster, Payton could be a great option if the other players fall through.

After bouncing around from team to team his whole career, he could finally find a home in Boston.
