A date and venue for the fight hadn’t been finalised, although SunSport revealed in October that the pair were still on course to trade leather in an exhibition.
But Tyson, 59, has now claimed he’ll duke it out with ‘Money‘ in a March melee in Africa.
Speaking at An Experience with Mike Tyson event, he said: “Me? [My next fight is going to be] Floyd Mayweather.
“Can you believe that?”

When asked to provide a timeline for the bout, ‘Iron Mike’ replied: “It’s going to be in March.
“And it’s going to be in Africa.”
Boxing fans were quick to chime in with their thoughts on the fight on social media after Tyson’s update.
One wrote on X: “Nobody cares, he sold out vs Jake.”

Another said: “They’re gonna make an absurd amount of money.”
And another said: “WTF this is so ridiculous and it’s simply promoters making money from legends of the sport!
“Mike Tyson is a legend ! Stop this bulls**t now!!!”
One remarked: “This is horrible.”
Another chimed in: “Historic moment for African boxing!
“Tyson-Mayweather on the continent would spotlight its growing sports infrastructure and inspire a new generation.”
Tyson is all too aware of the backlash his proposed meeting with Mayweather, whom he’s traded verbal jabs with throughout the years, has received.
But he insists their meeting will draw the eyes of scores of fight fans from around the globe.
The former undisputed heavyweight champion added: “This is going to be incredible. We’re going to break all the records.
“It’s going to be one of the biggest events in the history of the sport.”
Tyson hasn’t set foot inside the ring since donning a knee brace for a lacklustre showing against social media sensation Jake Paul last November.
Former five-weight world champion Mayweather, meanwhile, last in action last August in an exhibition rematch with John Gotti III, the grandson of notorious New York mob boss John Gotti.
