Shoppers are being advised to plan their post-Christmas shopping carefully as a host of major retailers and supermarkets have announced they will be shutting their doors on Boxing Day.
If you’re hoping to hit the sales on December 26, it’s worth checking the festive opening hours as more stores confirm their plans. From Aldi and Poundland to Marks and Spencer, here’s a list of UK shops that won’t be open for business on Boxing Day.
Aldi has confirmed that all its UK branches will be closed on Boxing Day, in line with previous years. Stores will close at 6pm on Christmas Eve and won’t reopen until December 27. Home Bargains is also giving its staff a well-deserved break over Christmas, with all stores closing for Boxing Day.

Marks and Spencer will once again shut most of its stores on Boxing Day, with only a select few service stations remaining open. Both Poundland and The Works will also be closed for the day, reports the Express.
Other high street giants including Dunelm, Pets at Home, Wickes, and B&Q have also confirmed they will not be trading on Boxing Day.
Tesco will be closing its superstores on Boxing Day, although many Express shops will reopen with reduced hours. Waitrose will keep almost all of its branches shut, with only a very small number operating for delivery platforms.

However, not all retailers will be taking a Boxing Day break. Lidl will be open across the UK on Boxing Day, albeit with reduced hours. Asda will reopen from mid-morning on Boxing Day, and Morrisons will also remain open, but with limited hours. Sainsbury’s will be welcoming shoppers on Boxing Day, albeit with shorter opening hours for its superstores.
High street favourites Boots, Superdrug and H&M have confirmed they’ll be open for business on December 26, ready to kick off their end-of-year sales.
Next has yet to announce its Boxing Day plans, but traditionally, it tends to close early. Meanwhile, Primark is expected to open its doors on the 26th, as per its usual practice. However, do bear in mind that opening times may vary over the festive period, depending on factors such as staff availability, store size and location.
