Boxing enthusiasts are convinced Jake Paul will withdraw from his scheduled fight with Anthony Joshua TODAY.

The internet personality turned boxer announced on social media that he’ll be making a significant announcement, prompting widespread speculation about a potential cancellation of his showdown with Joshua. The two heavyweights are set to meet in Miami next Friday in what has become a highly controversial matchup, drawing substantial backlash.

Paul faces his toughest test yet, having previously competed against former MMA fighters and 58-year-old Mike Tyson. The social media sensation displayed a shiner over the weekend, which he disclosed came from sparring with British ex-world champion Lawrence Okolie.

Following his promise of a “major update,” followers were quick to assume Paul is backing out of the contest. “Major update. Had to be done. It is what it is,” the fighter posted.

One supporter immediately responded: “Aaaaaand the fights off… shaking my head.”

Another commented: “Jake gonna come on in full body cast saying he broke every bone in his body from doing a belly flop off his balcony and won’t be able to fight.”

Paul was only meant to face Joshua after scrapping his planned matchup with Gervonta Davis last month.

Paul opted to take on Joshua as a replacement, but uncertainty is now mounting about whether that fight will proceed.

“We all knew it wasn’t going to happen; all for clout that’s it,” one fan commented. “It’ll end up being Jake vs Nate 2.”

Another chimed in: “Realized you were about to get your face caved in and couldn’t convince Joshua to take a dive.”

Paul’s announcement follows Joshua’s acknowledgment that he cannot let the amateur take him the full distance.

“I really understand where they’re coming from. I understand. I get it,” he remarked regarding fans demanding an early stoppage.

“I know the expectations and demands these fans have. And I respect it. If I didn’t respect it, I’d be honest with you and say, ‘No they’re talking rubbish,’ but I do.

“I do get it because I hold myself in that same regard, so I need to [KO Jake] and that’s my intention, to seek and destroy.”
