2016 Olympic Greco-Roman silver medalist Migran Arutyunyan has announced his return to mixed martial arts. The 36-year-old Armenian fighter will compete on January 31 in Los Angeles, headlining the anniversary event UNF 30.

Arutyunyan had his last fight on May 25 at the “Nashe Delo 83” event in Sochi, where he lost to Brazil’s Lucas Nascimento. Prior to that, Migran successfully competed in the California-based UNF league, earning two victories in the promotion’s early events. Arutyunyan was among those who helped start the history of the organization, which is run by representatives of the Armenian diaspora in the United States.

Since transitioning to MMA in 2018 following his wrestling career, Migran Arutyunyan has had eight fights, winning six and losing two. His return to the octagon at a major UNF event marks an important step in continuing his fighting career.

The promotion is expected to announce his opponent soon.
