EXCLUSIVE: Maya Hawke (Stranger Things, Wildcat), Julia Fox (Uncut Gems, Night Always Come), King Princess (Song Sung Blue, Nine Perfect Strangers), Ziwe (The Studio, Succession) and Este Haim (Licorice Pizza, Shell) have joined the cast of the Universal Pictures feature One Night Only, premiering August 7. Details regarding who they will play are under wraps, but they’re all supporting roles.
They join Monica Barbaro, Callum Turner, Molly Ringwald and LeVar Burton, who were previously announced.
The screenplay is a rewrite of Travis Braun’s Black List script by Will Gluck, who also directs, about two strangers (Barbaro and Turner) who scramble to find someone to sleep with on the one night of the year when premarital sex is legal. It’s as unknown whether Gluck’s version will stray from the original premise as details are under wraps.
Ringwald will play Turner’s mom, with Burton as her partner.
Gluck produces through Olive Bridge Entertainment. Jacqueline Monetta, VP of Olive Bridge Entertainment, will oversee the project and also produce. Universal’s Senior EVP Production Development Erik Baiers and Director of Production Development Jacqueline Garell will oversee on behalf of the studio.
