Actor Matthew Lillard vulnerably responded to Quentin Tarantino’s out-of-nowhere insult over the weekend.

The beloved actor was on the receiving end of the famed director’s random call-out during an appearance on “The Bret Easton Ellis Podcast” earlier this month.

While Tarantino directed most of his vitriol at Paul Dano, whom he called “the weakest fucking actor in SAG” and “the limpest dick in the world,” he then lumped in two other people.

“I don’t care for him, I don’t care for Owen Wilson, and I don’t care for Matthew Lillard,” Tarantino added.

Lillard responded over the weekend, while making an appearance at GalaxyCon in Columbus, Ohio.

“Quentin Tarantino this week said he didn’t like me as an actor,” Lillard said in a now-viral TikTok video, as the crowd began to boo Tarantino.

“It hurts your feelings,” the “Scooby Doo” actor said, adding that “it fucking sucks.”

“He wouldn’t say that to Tom Cruise. He wouldn’t say that to somebody who’s a top-line actor in Hollywood,” the 55-year-old added. “I’m very popular in this room. I’m not very popular in Hollywood. Two totally different microcosms. So it’s humbling, and it hurts.”

Many actors and directors have come to both Dano and Lillard’s defense after Tarantino’s comments.

James Gunn, who has directed Lillard in the past, posted in support of the actor on Threads on Monday.

“Just a few photos over the years with one of my favorite guys (and actors) @matthewlillard,” he wrote. “No reason.”
