Though Maryland men’s soccer ended in disappointment after an undefeated regular season — falling to Washington in the NCAA Tournament quarterfinal Saturday — the United Soccer Coaches still took notice of the team’s prowess.
Lasse Kelp, Laurin Mack, Staphane Njike, and Sadam Maseraka were all named Tuesday to the United Soccer Coaches All-Region First Team. Leon Koehl was named to the All-Region Second Team.
Kelp, Njike and Maseraka also received coveted invites to the 2025 MLS College Showcase, an event that showcases the top 45 collegiate soccer players in the nation from Dec. 10-13 in Mesa, Arizona.
Kelp’s string of honors may not be done. The defender was named as one of the 15 semi-finalists for the MAC Hermann trophy.
The award, one of the most distinguished in NCAA soccer, has only been given to two Terps in the past: Jason Garey in 2005 and Patrick Mullins in 2012 and 2013. You can participate in the fan vote here.
