More information has come to light about John Cena‘s final match against Gunther at the upcoming WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.
According to a new report from Bryan Alvarez, Cena’s match against Gunther, in a surprise twist, is actually set to open the show. No official runtime has been set for the match. However, Alvarez noted that the pair will get “as much time” as Cena wants.
“At this point, there is no set runtime for Saturday Night’s Main Event, so everyone will get all the time they need,” Alvarez wrote (via WrestlingNews.co). “Cena vs. Gunther is currently scheduled to open the show and Cena will get as much time as he wants.”
The move is a bit of a surprise, as many thought Cena’s match would close out the show. However, Cena has openly expressed his desire for his final event to be more than just about him. As a result, several cross-promotion matches are taking place. Several NXT and TNA going up against WWE stars in various matches.
