Miles was picked by the Giants in the fourth round of the 2022 first-year player draft. He missed the 2023 season after undergoing back surgery.
Miles made five appearances in 2024 before he suffered a right flexor strain that led to elbow surgery.
Rule 5 draft picks are assigned directly to the drafting club’s 26-man roster. They must be placed on outright waivers in order to be removed from the roster in the subsequent season.
Later on Wednesday, the Blue Jays announced three new coaching hires under manager John Schneider to round out his 2026 coaching staff.
Cody Atkinson joins as assistant hitting coach, Eric Duncan joins as major league field coordinator and Drew Butera comes in as major league coach.
