What to know

OVO is releasing a new Marvel collaboration this Friday, teased in a cinematic trailer set across Toronto.

The collection features apparel and skateboards showcasing characters like Venom, Wolverine, Ghost Rider, and more.

Notably, Marvel’s Iceman doesn’t appear in the lineup, despite fans linking the drop to Drake’s upcoming Iceman album.

The rapper has yet to announce a release date for the album, though anticipation is already high thanks to recent livestreams and singles.

Drake’s OVO clothing line is releasing a new Marvel collaboration, and fans are wondering if it’s a hint at the Toronto rapper’s highly-anticipated album Iceman.

October’s Very Own (OVO) dropped a trailer teasing the collection on Wednesday morning, featuring tons of Toronto landmarks and starring internet personality and skateboarder Miles Silva.

The sound of a police radio could be heard in the background of the action-packed video, where all units are being notified of a  masked skateboarding thief last seen around Bathurst and Queen streets. Donned the “The Mighty Miles Silva,” he evades police, skating past city staples like Toronto Metropolitan University, Union Station, and even a TTC streetcar.

The trailer ends with the drop date, which is set for this Friday, Dec. 12.

On Instagram, OVO posted a first look at some of the items that will be included in the line, such as shirts, hoodies, skateboards, and more – all themed around Marvel comic characters. Some of Marvel’s most familiar heroes and villains appear on the pieces, including Venom, Doctor Doom, Ghost Rider, Wolverine, and X-Men favourites like Storm, Beast, and Gambit. However, it doesn’t look like Iceman, a founding member of the X-Men, will appear in the collection.

Still, fans have high hopes. Some say the collaboration would make sense if timed with Drake’s album release. Beyond sharing a name, Iceman’s real name is also Robert “Bobby” Louis Drake.

“Not utilizing the Iceman character on any of the clothing was a huge missed opportunity, unless he’s saving it for the album,” one person wrote on Reddit.

“Gotta have Iceman merch before the album. He’s gotta be saving it… right?,” another fan wrote on the platform.

The rapper has also done a number of stints leading up to the collab, including driving an ice truck around Toronto to promote his songs.
