The 30-year-old has agreed to terms with the Kansas City Royals on a one-year deal worth $5.25 million, according to multiple reports.
The contract also reportedly includes up to $1 million worth of performance incentives.
Thomas slashed .160/.246/.272 over 125 at-bats while dealing with plantar fasciitis for most of the 2025 season before undergoing surgery for the ailment in September.
He was acquired by the Guardians at the 2024 trade deadline after he spent parts of four seasons the Washington Nationals.
Thomas was originally drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the fifth round of the 2014 draft but was shipped to the St. Louis Cardinals for future considerations before he was moved to the Nationals in a trade for Jon Lester at the 2021 trade deadline.
Over 601 career games, the speedy centre fielder has mashed 76 homers with 254 RBIs and 71 stolen bases.
